Nordiacorp fieldwork in Småland and on Öland

Road. A common view during linguistic fieldwork.

On May 10th, Cajsa Ottesjö and Andreas Widoff took a train to Kalmar to conduct three days of fieldwork in Torsås in south-eastern Småland, Segerstad on southern Öland and Böda on northern Öland. During the train trip, we took delight in listening to many different dialects of Småland, ranging from Hestra to Emmaboda. Unfortunately, due to limited resources, this is an area we will not cover in our current research.

Arriving in Kalmar, we changed means of transport and went the last distance by car. Both in Torsås and on Öland, all informants reported standard Swedish interrogative words, and we did not notice any other unusual syntactic features of the dialects. A more detailed study of the results, however, may be rewarding.
